Jennifer Elswick is a full-time freelance writer and the mother of multiple four-legged children. Born and raised in a small town in Michigan, she spent her formative years working on her family’s farm and caring for her multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews. The youngest of six children, she learned how to muck horse stables almost as soon as she could walk. Elswick’s time on the farm helped her develop an interest in animals, which she still carries with her today. That interest led to her fostering kittens and adult cats on her family farm, which she recently inherited.
While attending university, Elswick became a part of the Big Brothers, Big Sister organization and helped several “little sisters” who are still in touch with her today. She also volunteered for several political campaigns and helped build homes through Habitat for Humanity until she finished her undergraduate degree. She then went to work for several websites, helping the owners design and build sites that attracted readers. This led to her opening a small business where she produces content for the web. Elswick now splits her time between working on her farm and writing for the web while also shopping for antiques and visiting farmers’ markets.
